When did you learn to abandon yourself?

I grew up in a conservative, republican, christian household. And I learned how to abandon myself at a very young age.

Our society teaches us to adhere to its rules, many of which are rooted in religion, family dynamics, and cultural expectations. It’s an effort to strip away our power, control, and autonomy.

Why do we live by these rules?

Critically think on this…when you do, you may realize like I did.

These rules are simply made up. Someone somewhere had this brilliant idea.

We don’t have to live by them.

My life changed the moment I said: fuck religious and societal norms.

Up until this point in my life I had lived for everyone else.

I had given up my own wants, needs and desires because I thought they were bad, wrong, and that I was broken and sinful. And I was dying inside.
