Recently, I got an infection.
At first I didn’t even know it was happening.
Then it was slightly tender, but It really wasn’t all that noticeable.
Then it became a bit more noticeable, there were signs and symptoms. But I could still go about my day, seemingly unbothered.
Then it became really clear, I needed to do something but I was unsure what I needed to do.
Do I wait for it to clear up on its own?
Do I medicate?
Do I physically tend to the wound?
Do I call a doctor?
“Unless it heals, it keeps hurting us.
Trauma is not what happens to us, it’s the wound we are still carrying.” Garbor Mate
Tending to the wound means we provide care to promote healing and prevent further complications.
Real world results of trauma:
Behavioral reactions
Relational tension
Body health & chronic pain or illness
Mental health struggles
Addictions -an attempt to solve pain.
As adults we have choice.
Do we choose to ignore it?
Do we choose to place blame?
Do we choose to take ownership?
Do we choose to do something about it?
Wherever there is tension it requires attention or we risk it getting worse …festering, erupting, or worse catastrophe.
If you pay close enough attention you will notice it coming.
If you attune to it you can make a conscious effort to change your part in this and change the outcome.
But…It’s up to you. What’s your ideal?
